One of the most important ways to deal with high blood pressure is by watching your diet. What you eat can lower your blood pressure. Use olive oil instead of vegetable oil and concentrate on eating more fruits, vegetables and nuts. Rather than red meat eat fish, chicken and ram meat. Cut back on salt, alcohol, sugar and saturated fat.
Instead of eating fries made from Irish potatoes eat sweet potatoes. They have much less effect on blood glucose levels and offer additional health benefits.
Coconut water is also an excellent way of lowering your blood pressure. It’s a good source of calcium and magnesium, which helps blood vessels to relax so that blood pressure decreases. Make sure you drink only pure coconut water and not the processed one.
You probably already know that several factors may predispose you to high blood pressure. But did you also know that you can control it by watching what you eat? Eating yogurt supplies calcium which has a blood pressure-lowering effect. Drinking hibiscus tea which we call ‘Sobo’ (or ‘Zobo’) has a diuretic action to flush away excess salt and fluid. Drinking hibiscus tea every day before breakfast can bring your high blood pressure down.
